Meet the Travelers Behind Sonsy Travel Guide
We are Sivan and Csaba, two 50+ travelers who believe that getting older shouldn’t make the world smaller. Quite the opposite: this may be one of the best times of our lives to explore it.
With Eastern European roots and years of life experience in the Middle East, we have learned to look at places from more than one perspective.
Most of all, we are curious. Curious about the places we haven’t seen yet. The people we haven’t met. The food we haven’t tasted. The roads we haven’t taken. And there are still so many of them.
For Us, Travel Starts Before We Leave Home
We genuinely enjoy planning a journey. Opening a map, discovering an unfamiliar town, finding an unusual museum, following a railway line across a country or stumbling upon a place we had never heard of before can be almost as exciting as the journey itself. Research is not a chore for us. It is part of traveling.
We love looking beyond the obvious attractions and asking: What else is there? What makes this place different? What would we regret missing? What is worth taking a detour for? And what do we actually need to know before we go?
That curiosity is at the heart of Sonsy Travel Guide.
Real Experiences in a Digital World
We belong to a generation that doesn’t want to experience the world through a screen alone. Videos, social media, virtual tours and travel websites can inspire us. They can help us discover places we never knew existed. But eventually, we want to go there ourselves. We want to walk the streets, taste the food, hear the sounds, meet the people and form our own opinions.
And not every experience has to be perfect. Sometimes a famous attraction disappoints us. Sometimes a place nobody talks about becomes the highlight of the trip. Sometimes we get tired, take the wrong road or discover that reality looks very different from the photographs. That’s travel. We want the good and the bad, because we want the experience to be our own.
Technology Is a Tool. The Experience Is Human.
We’re certainly not dinosaurs.
We use digital maps, travel apps, online booking, translation tools, AI and new technologies both when preparing our journeys and while we’re on the road. They help us travel smarter, solve problems and discover possibilities that previous generations of travelers simply didn’t have. But technology is the tool, not the destination.
For us, the real measure of travel is still human experience.
A conversation. A surprising view. A meal we still remember years later. A street that makes us stop walking for a moment. A story that changes the way we see a place.
Those are the things we travel for.
Sometimes Slow. Sometimes Fast. Always Curious.
We don’t believe there is one correct way to travel. Sometimes we want to spend hours wandering through a neighborhood. Other times we want to fit five different experiences into one day.
We aren’t chasing extreme adventures or impressive sporting achievements. We don’t need to climb the highest mountain or walk hundreds of kilometers to prove that we’ve experienced a destination.
But curiosity can make us surprisingly adventurous.
We are willing to walk a little farther, take the inconvenient train, wake up early or sacrifice some comfort when there is something genuinely interesting waiting at the other end.
Nightlife doesn’t determine where we travel anymore, either. But a great concert, a memorable performance or an unexpected evening somewhere along the way? Absolutely.
Why Travel After 50?
There is something special about this stage of life. The children have grown up. Some of the pressure to build careers, raise families and meet everyone else’s expectations has eased. And suddenly there is a little more room for ourselves. We like to think of it as a second bloom. Not a time to withdraw from the world, but an opportunity to become curious about it all over again.
To learn something new. To finally visit the place that has been sitting on the wish list for twenty years. To try something we have never tried before. To meet people we would never otherwise have met. And perhaps most importantly, to stop postponing experiences for “someday.”
Life after 50 isn’t about slowing down. It’s about choosing what is worth your time.

Sonsy Travel Guide grew out of our own curiosity.
We love researching destinations and finding the practical details that can make the difference between simply visiting somewhere and genuinely enjoying it.
That’s why our guides aren’t meant to be endless lists of everything a destination has to offer.
We want to help you understand a place.
We look at history, culture, transportation, accessibility, unusual attractions and practical realities. We search for the famous sights, but also the factory tours, railway journeys, stadiums, historic roads, filming locations, hidden corners and unexpected experiences that can make a journey memorable.
Our goal is simple: to inspire curiosity and provide enough useful information to help you decide whether an experience belongs on your own journey.
We don’t want to tell you how you should travel. We want to make you curious enough to discover how you want to travel.
Keep Exploring
We love life, and we are still enormously curious about the world.
There are countries we haven’t visited, cultures we don’t yet understand, foods we’ve never tasted and experiences we don’t even know exist yet. That’s exactly what makes traveling exciting.
So wherever you are in life, stay curious. Go somewhere new. Take the detour. Talk to someone. Try something unfamiliar. Occasionally get lost.
Collect experiences, not just destinations.
Because long after a journey ends, the experiences become part of who we are.
And those are the souvenirs we carry for the rest of our lives.
